Joshua Hartwell is a performer and educator currently based in Houston, TX. Originally from the Houston area, Joshua holds a Bachelors in Music Education degree from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana where he studied with Dr. Lonny Benoit. He continued his studies and earned his Masters degree in Percussion Performance from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas under Dr. Dean Gronemeier and Dr. Timothy Jones. 

 

Joshua has served on staff with Foothill High School in Henderson, NV where he instructed both the front ensemble and drumline. He has taught several programs throughout Texas and Louisiana in both outdoor and indoor marching activities and has held private lesson positions instructing all things percussion and drumset. He previously served as the Director of Percussion for Goose Creek Memorial High School and its feeder cluster in Baytown, TX, and now contributes his talents to Pearland ISD with the esteemed Pearland High School Band and instructs private lessons.

 

Joshua avidly performs throughout the Greater Houston area as a percussionist and drumset player. He cofounded the profession percussion group, Momentum, and performs regularly with artists such as Dyllan Culp, Kate Watson, and Trent Cowie. He has performed for various artists and organizations on the Las Vegas Strip, and was a member of the 2020 American Prize-winning UNLV Wind Orchestra under the direction of Thomas Leslie. He was also a member of the 2016 Louisiana Stars Drum and Bugle Corps Front Ensemble, being a part of DCI’s Most Improved Corps that season.
